The Lady Cats are coming off a thrilling 11-9 win at Johnston City yesterday. Salem trailed by 7 heading into the 6th inning when they would score 7 runs to tie the game at 9. Then in the top of the 7th, Mya Russell drove a ball deep to center and was caught but it scored 2 runs on the play as Nat Lee and Bre Thurman came around to score the go ahead runs. Reagan Shuler was the winning pitcher with Thurman working the 7th for the save. Izzy Decker, Marah Johnson and Jaelyn Keller had 2 hits each. Russell drove in 3 runs and Lee added 2 RBI. Decker tied the game in the 6th with an RBI and Johnson hit a home run in the 2nd. The Salem Wildcats will try to stay undefeated in Cahokia play when they head to Freeburg today.
South Central scored 7 times in the third inning to pull away and beat Ramsey on the road 11-0 in five innings. Bre Buchanan had a home run, double and drove in 5 going 3-3. Lauren Johnson added an RBI and was the winning pitcher going 4 innings allowing 1 hit and struck out 6.
Christ Our Rock improved to 12-1 with an 11-1 win over St Elmo/Brownstown. The Lady Stallions scored six runs in the 2nd inning to help grab an early advantage. Jo Meyer and Alayna French led the offense with 3 RBI each, Kylie Nalewajka singled home 2 runs. Payton Jett was the winning pitcher going 6.1 allowing 2 hits nad 2 earned run. Katie Oelze got the last 2 outs.
Belleville West no-hit Mt Vernon 5-0. Danicah Tobin only allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 8 strikeouts in the loss.
