Mary Louise Smith, 90, of Centralia passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. She was born on October 31, 1934, the daughter of Clarence and Gladys (Jones) Weaver in Rusk County, Texas. She married Dwight Smith, one daughter was born of this union and they later divorced.
Survivors that will remember sweet Mary’s kindness to all include her beloved family, her daughter, Pamela Barrow of Mt. Vernon; her brother, Roger (Rebecca “Becky”) Weaver of Central City; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gladys Weaver; and her sister, Winifred Daniels.
Mary enjoyed her time working as a salesclerk at Betty Lee Fashion Store at Fairview Park Plaza in Centralia. She was a loyal employee of North American Lighting until her retirement, where she made many lasting friendships. Mary was of the Christian faith. She was appreciative of nature and truly looked forward to activities she could do outdoors. Mary will also be remembered for her tender heart for animals, and how grateful she was for her pets’ companionship. Mary was an amazing Mom to her daughter, Pam, and she would do anything to ensure her daughter knew she was loved and valued. Mary was a joy to spend time with, and she will be deeply missed by all who were part of her life.
A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a later date. Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted for her family at Irvin Macz Funeral Home 234 South Elm Street Centralia, IL 62801.
