Lyle Burnell Wade, age 96, passed away at The Glenwood Supportive Living in Greenville, Illinois.
Mr. Wade was born in Carlyle, Illinois on July 30, 1928, a son of the late Albert L. and Bernice I. (Harnetiaux) Wade. He married Velma M. Gambill on June 2, 1948, in Carlyle, and together they celebrated 76 years of happiness together.
Through this union, Mr. Wade was blessed with two daughters, Diane Connery of Greenville, and Linda Zitkus and husband Mike of Sycamore, IL; his loving grandchildren, Michael L. Zitkus and wife Reneé of Elburn, IL, Jennifer Carlson and husband Erik of Big Rock, IL, Jim Zitkus and wife Ellen of Batavia, IL, Leanne Newman and husband Joe of Crane, MO, and B.J. Connery of Greenville; his great grandchildren, Michael Zitkus, Taylor Risch, Kyle Zitkus, Erika Luebbers, Wade Carlson, Kaitlyn Carlson, Jimmy, Mili, Emma, Seamus, and Delaney Zitkus, Darrin Rathburn, Conner Shafer, Ashlyn Shafer, and Gabby Connery; and his great great grandchildren, Indiana and Isabelle Luebbers, Karter and Charolette Carlson, K.C. Zitkus, and Viola Shafer.
Lyle was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Albert and Bernice Wade; and his siblings and in-laws, Harriet and Lester Siebert, Margaret and David Derrick, Lyman and Sharon Wade, and Leland “Bud” and Ada Wade.
Mr. Wade was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith, and he attended many Baptist churches over the years as he and his family moved. Most recently, he called Wisetown Baptist Church his home. Lyle worked for Alton Boxboard for 17 years before becoming the operator of Country Club Cleaners in Joliet, a business he ran for 22 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved nothing more than a quiet morning fishing, or a crisp day hunting in the woods.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Wisetown Baptist Church, 173 Wisetown Road, Greenville, IL 62246, with Rev. Thomas Rankin, officiating. Interment will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM, and at church on Monday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 AM.
