A 51-year-old Centralia woman was pronounced dead at the scene of an SUV-motorcycle crash on the east side of Centralia Sunday afternoon.
Marion County Coroner Claude Howell identified the victim as Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Ramsey.
Initial information indicates she was a passenger on her husband’s motorcycle when it crashed into the rear of an eastbound SUV stopped in traffic, waiting for a vehicle to make a left turn onto Edgewood Lane.
Howell says Ramsey sustained multiple injuries when being thrown off the motorcycle.
Centralia Police identify the driver of the cycle as 47-year-old Timothy Ramsey of South Maple in Centralia. He was transported from the scene by Lifestar Ambulance to the helipad at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia where he was transported to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.
The driver of the SUV, 23-year-old Trevor Andershock of St. Peters, Missouri, received minor injuries and will seek medical treatment on his own.
A State Accident Reconstructionist has completed a report on the crash, but details have not yet been released.
Centralia Police and Fire responded to the call at 2:40 Sunday afternoon. After the crash, Route 161 from Pleasant to Airport Road was closed for several hours.
