An investigation is underway to the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a home at 604 West 6th Street in Centralia early Friday morning.

None of the three occupants of the residence were home at the time of the fire was discovered.  They are Holly Creamer, John Pope and Reese Atteberry.   A dog that was in the home was rescued and was unhurt.

Centralia City Firemen say upon arrival they found the single-story residence fully involved with flames shooting out two of the windows.   Firemen were able to confine the fire to the kitchen and living room, but there was smoke and heat damage to the entire home.  They also kept the fire from going through the roof.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Centralia City Firemen received mutual aid from the Centralia Fire Protection District on the scene while Sandoval Firemen stood by at the fire station in the event of another fire.

The Red Cross has been called to assist the family.

The home is owned by Dorothy Bess.

The fire call came in at 5:45 Friday morning with firemen on the scene until around 7:15 am.
