The Wildcats baseball team will travel to Fairfield today. Yesterday, Jalen Inlow went 3-3 as Salem knocked off visiting Wood River in Cahokia play 11-1 in five innings snapping a 5-game losing skid. Rhett Detering earned the win giving up 3 hits and a run over 5 innings. Carter Lowe had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Cats. Ryan Detering drove in 3 runs and Cody Beard added an RBI.
The Orphans are back in action today at Mater Dei.
Christ Our Rock fell to Ziegler Royalton 2-0 in 8 innings. Jayden Bazile was really good on the mound in the loss striking out 11 allowing just 1 hit and no runs over 6.1 innings. Bazile also led the Stallions at the plate with 3 hits. Noah Kenley added 2 and Christian Nollman singled. Gary Denton worked the final 1.2 and took the loss.
Odin/Patoka/Sandoval earned a 4-1 win over Woodlawn. With the game tied at 1 in the bottom of the fifth the Eagles would jump back on top after Austin Hoffman singled, Tyler Huffman stole home and Heydin Purcell singled to score a run. Hoffman was the winning pitcher tgiving up 7 hits and a run over 7 innings with 6 strikeouts and just 2 walks. Ben Spencer, Chapman, Purcell and Hoffman each had a hit for OPS who plays at Okawville today.
The Mt Vernon Rams shutout Carbondale 4-0 behind a 1 hit complete game shutout from Maxwell Nowak. He struck out 10. Cale Maurer, Diedrich Smith and Bronx Hefner had RBI and Alex Kiefer scored a run. The Rams are 3-9 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The JV Rams blew out Carbondale 22-5.
