Sandoval has set the village-wide rummage sale for Saturday, May 3rd, and the cleanup from May 2nd through the 12th. Dumpsters will be available behind the village hall. They will be monitored by camera to locate anyone putting items not allowed in the dumpsters, including tires, construction materials, TVs, computers, and any engines or oil products. Once cleanup week is past, Police Chief Joe Lyons says tickets will be written for tall grass, trash, debris, and other items not allowed by ordinance.
Sandoval sewer rates will increase by three percent on the next bill. The village board two years passed an ordinance to raise both water and sewer rates by three percent a year, but no increase was ever made in the sewer rates. Residents will then see another sewer rate increase, along with the yearly three percent water rate increase, on their July utility bills.
An Oklahoma firm has been hired to help the village get its financial reporting system in order and to begin utilizing the Illinois Fund program that pays interest on funds currently in the bank. Until the board has a better idea of its financial status, they are limiting expenditures.
