Fresh off their 2nd place team finish at The EAWR Invitational Saturday. The CORLHS Stallions Track and Field Team were back at it again this evening at the Freeburg Invitational.

Jr. Landyn Mitchell stayed undefeated in the outdoor season in the 110M Hurdles and 300IM Hurdles winning both events once again. In the 110M Hurdles Mitchell would run his fastest time ever in the event, breaking his own PR in: 15.03. He would miss the meet record by just: 0.02 of a second (:15.01). His 1st place time in the 300IM Hurdles was: 42.58. Mitchell would tally 36 points for the Stallions (the same as he recorded Saturday at the EAWR Inv.), as he would win the Triple Jump with a jump of 41’3.75″ and finish 3rd in the long jump with a jump of 19’9.5″! The kid has been very impressive the outdoor season thus far.

It was a big night for the Stallions distance crew in the 1600 meter (mile) as well! Soph. Carson Pigg would go under 5 minutes for the 3rd meet in a row. This time setting a new PR in 4:55.1 finishing 5th in the event. His Senior teammate Zerek Koch would make a strong bid for sub 5 as well, Koch would match his PR with a time of 5:05 and finish 7th out of 21 milers. Lady Stallion Rylee Brammeier would also PR in the 1600 meter run on the girls side in a time of 6:07.6 as she would use an impressive kick at the end to grab the 3rd place medal (given to Top 3 in each event) out of 28 runners. It was a great night for our distance crew!

Also placing for the Stallions on the evening was Sr. Isaiah Lyons, he would finish 4th in the 400 meter dash in: 54.41, and narrowly missed breaking his own school record that he broke on Saturday by just: 0.05 of a second. Lyons would also run an impressive :24.28 in the 200 meter dash finishing 8th out of 24, and just missing the school record in that event, which was set by Arda Gencel the previous season (:23.77).

Coach Tim Koch said following the meet, “the Stallions finished 5th in the meet out of 19 total teams, despite me limiting our competitors events this evening, after competing in 3 meets last week. They are set to run again at The Herrin Invitational on Wednesday afternoon! “It was a great meet once again for our team. Lando is incredible once again, as he always is for us, our distance runners came up big tonight and Isaiah Lyons continues to show how fast he can be! Our other kids fought hard on tired legs and gave it their all! Soph. Jaxon Cushman also set a huge PR in the Discus with a throw of 98’2″. I am very impressed by the heart our kids are showing meet after meet!”
