The Salem Lady Wildcats were able to get their home conference game with Breese Central in before the hail and storms made their way to Tully, winning 9-0 in five innings. Bre Thurman once again was great in the circle striking out 8 and allowing just 1 hit. Salem also blasted out 14 hits in the 5 innings. Jaelyn Keller had 3 of them and drove in 3 runs. Thurman also had 3 hits and 2 RBI. Marah Johnson and Izzy Decker had 2 hits each. Kale Benjamin, Alivia Rasul and Katee Sellers added a hit. Freshman Kendall Zimmermann got her first varsity hit and RBI as well. The Lady Cats are back in action this afternoon at Tully Park hosting Murphysboro.
Emma Williamson got career strikeout #500 for Christ Our Rock as she helped them to a 7-2 conference win over Father McGivney. She went 5 innings allowing 1 hit and no runs with 9 strikeouts and no walks. She is an Eastern Illinois University signee. Payton Jett worked the final 2 innings. Jett drove in 2 runs, Kyle Nalewajka, Katie Oelze and Live Torrence also had 2 hits each.
Teutopolis knocked off Altamont on the road 2-0 in ten innings. It was the very definition of a pitchers dual. Altamont’s Grace Lemke struck out 28 in the loss and Alyssa Tipton of TTown added 24 strikeouts for a total of 52 in the game.
Carlyle improved to 5-3 with an 8-7 win over Okawville in a five inning weather shortened game. Carlyle was down 7-1 before scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth. They had all 7 of their hits in the game in that final inning. Sophia Hoffman hit a 2 out 2-run single to tie the game and Maddy Rae Schomaker singled to score the go ahead and ultimate winning run. Addi Hasheider had a grand slam for Okawville.
