Midwest Maulers 10u Come Back To Beat Hamco Haze

Centralia’s Midwest Maulers 10U baseball boys, sponsored by Good Vibes Cafe, traveled to McCleansboro and came out with an 11-9 victory over the Hamco Haze on Wednesday.

The Maulers opened the scoring in the first after a passed ball scored one run.

They added one run in the second by scoring on a passed ball, making the score 2-0. Another passed ball in the third allowed them to score once again, making the score 3-1 after three innings.

Hamco Haze 10U flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 8-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Bentley D that drove in one.

The Maulers  tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a passed ball and a walk by Easton Weaver.

Midwest Maulers 10U jumped back into the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Levi Lund singled to center field, Amare Billberry walked and then stole home, each scoring one run.

Brantley Smith opened the game and allowed two hits, and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Emmit K stepped on the hill first for Hamco Haze 10U. The starter gave up one hit and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out six and walking three. Amare Billberry and Gunner Markotay each appeared in relief for Midwest Maulers 10U.

Levi Lund led Midwest Maulers 10U with one run batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Levi Lund and Karsyn Guidish each collected one hit for Midwest Maulers 10U. Midwest Maulers 10U had patience at the plate, accumulating 14 walks for the game. Brody Kasban, Amare Billberry, Brantley Smith, Zayne Allgood, and Gunner Markotay led the team with two bases on balls each. Brody Kasban, Amare Billberry, Colton “CJ” Smith, Levi Lund, Hayden Huff, Brantley Smith, Zayne Allgood, and Gunner Markotay each stole multiple bases for Midwest Maulers. Midwest Maulers 10U stole 29 bases in the game.

Leon J and Talan H each collected two hits for Hamco Haze 10U. Bentley D, Cortlon F, Talan H, Hunter G, and Emmit K each drove in one run for Hamco Haze 10U. Bentley D, Talan H, Ransom M, and Creed H each stole multiple bases for Hamco Haze 10U. Hamco Haze 10U ran wild on the base paths, tallying 13 stolen bases for the game.

Next up, the Midwest Maulers head to Missouri for the GMB Can of Corn Tournament. Midwest Maulers will face the Edwardsville Tigers in the opening round on Saturday at 12:30PM.
