Jefferson County led the state in number of turkeys harvested during the recently completed youth turkey season. Jefferson Count hunters brought in 69 birds. Fayette County was fifth with 62. In Marion County, 49 turkeys were harvested, down from 60 last year. In other area counties, 49 turkeys were harvested in Clay County, 31 in Clinton County, 25 in Washington County and 50 in Wayne County.
Statewide, 2,091 birds were harvested breaking the old record of 2,010 set in 2024. A total of 6,541 youth permits were issued.
