An 82-year-old Centralia man has been ordered held in the Marion County Jail until a fitness exam is completed.

Judge Mark Stedelin made the ruling after Paul Young of East Rexford was charged with aggravated domestic battery, unlawful restraint and five counts of misdemeanor battery in connection with incidents involving a woman he was living with over the past month.

Centralia Police say they initially responded early Thursday morning to the 900 block of East Rexford where a car was sitting in the middle of the road with a male drive and a female passenger who indicated she needed help.

Following a traffic stop, Centralia Police talked to the alleged female victim who told them Young had been hitting her the past several days.  She claimed as Young strangled her, he claimed to know how to make her pass out and knows ways to kill her.

Due to his actions in his first court appearance on Wednesday, Stedelin ordered the fitness test.  Young will be held until his next court appearance on May 6th.  A public defender has been appointed to represent Young.
