The Marion County Board has approved a $43,540 bid from Chapman’s Design and Decor to install new blinds on all the courthouse and public service building windows. With the installation of the new windows, sun has become an issue for county employees trying to use their computers.
The board has restored money to two line items in the sheriff’s budget that had mysteriously been lowered after the full county board approved the budget in January. $200,000 was restored to a building line item and $13,000 to a line item for computers in the squad cars.
The board confirmed Alex Krake as the county’s new highway engineer effective May first. He has now passed the IDOT test to allow him to be a county highway engineer.
Board Chair Steve Whritenour says an ordinance allowing Queen of Hearts drawings in Marion County will be presented at the board meeting later this month. The Iron Saddle made the request. The Queen of Hearts are used to raise money for non-profit organizations. Iron Saddle has not yet announced which organization they are working with.
