Three fire departments combined efforts to search for smoke that was seen coming from the Health Services Wing at the Continental Tire Plant in Mt. Vernon late Tuesday night.
Employees initial tried to locate the source of the smoke themselves, but called Jefferson Fire to assist when nothing could be found. Jefferson Fire, with mutual aid from Mt. Vernon and Bluford, searched for the source of the smoke for about one and a half hours without finding anything.
They instructed employees to call back if the smoke or odor came back.
