A Marion County Correctional Officer was treated and released at Salem Township Hospital when being kicked by an incoming prisoner Monday night.
18-year-old Tyree Wilburn of Charleston Road was arrested for aggravated battery to a correctional officer. He was being booked on a number of other charges at the time following a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Broadway in Salem. They were illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a FOID card, resisting arrest and aggravated battery.
Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps says following the traffic stop, a gun was found in a bag that was on Wilburn’s lap that he had later moved to under the seat. He also allegedly resisted being taken into custody.
A second passenger in the car, 20-year-old Mason Hollinshead of Hawthorn Estates in Salem, was released on a notice to appear in court for possession of a controlled substance.
