The Salem City Council Monday night will swear in Ian King as a Sergeant. He replaces Tyler Rose who was earlier promoted to Deputy Chief.
The City Council will be asked to set the date and time for a public hearing on the new residential and business Tax Increment Financing District #4.
A proposal will come before the council that would require large solar projects in non-urban areas within the city’s one and a half mile zoning jurisdiction to have a special use permit before they could be built. The process would require a planning commission hear which would allow for public input from neighboring property owners.
The council will be asked to approve two zoning issues that have already received planning commission approval. They include a special use permit for Crea Rose to operate a medical clinic at 207 East Main in the downtown district. The other would rezone the former Merle McKinney Auto Sales property at 1701 and 1703 East Main from Business B-3 to Residential RS-2. Both buildings on the property are now used for residential purposes.
The council will be asked to approve a proposal from Chuck McLean to tear down the remaining nine homes on the city’s demolition list. McLean is the only person to submit a bid.
The Salem City Council meeting begins at six Monday night at city hall.
