A tornado struck an area southwest of Greenville as a line of severe storm activity crossed the region Wednesday night.
The tornado struck and caused heavy damage to the home of Melissa Marti on Millersburg Road, sucking her out of the residence. Melissa’s sister-in-law, Deb Marti, told WGEL radio in Greenville, that Melissa landed in the grass outside the home. She was reportedly heading to the basement, with her phone in her hand, when the tornado hit.
Melissa still had the phone when landing outside and was able to call her brother for help. Family responded and found Melissa in the yard. She was later transferred to St. Louis University Hospital for help.
The suspected tornado then hit another residence and other buildings along Millersburg Road. No one was home at the other residence.
The National Weather Service was tracking the tornado path on Thursday. Another tornado hit in the Potosí, Missouri area southeast of St. Louis.
