Marion County Clerk Steve Fox isn’t expecting a big voter turnout Tuesday for the consolidated election that features a number of contested races for municipal, school and township offices.
“It’s been a little bit slower this consolidated election than we’ve had in some past consolidated elections, even though it looks like we have quite a few races across the county,” Fox said. “Right now, we’re looking at probably about 18% voter turnout all the way across the whole county. We’ve already had 318 early voters that have voted here at the county courthouse or in Centralia.”
Fox says another 364 have voted by mail through Saturday out of 1,453 vote by mail ballots sent out. Among the contested races are for city councilman in Salem and Centralia, and for Mayor or Village President in Wamac, Patoka, Kinmundy, Junction City, and Iuka.
