The Salem Lady Wildcats dropped a tough one on the road at Effingham 8-7 as the Hearts walked it off on Salem. Bre Thurman was solid in the circle and Reagan Shuler saw her first varsity action and got her first strikeout. Thurman, Marah Johnson and Jaelyn Keller had 2 hits each with Keller and Izzy Decker driving in 2 runs apiece.
Ziya Hawk’s RBI single in the bottom of the 7th capped off a 3-run inning and Centralia walked off on Benton 3-2 at Rotary Park. Kinsley Hawthorne and Rorie Lambert walked with one out. Kaylee Bowdler then tied the game with a 2-run double before Hawk’s heroics. Emmerie Quick tossed a five hitter striking out 9 and didn’t walk anyone as the Annies improve to 3-0 and host Vandalia tomorrow. Jaycee Webb homered along with Malia Webb for Benton.
South Central routed Cisne 17-0 on the road. Kaitlyn Swift went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Lauren Joyhnson and Abi Shuler also drove in 3 runs for SC. Jamalyn Logan drove in 2. Johnson was the 4-inning winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts and no hits allowed.
Carlyle improved to 4-2 with their 5-2 win at home over New Athens. Sophia Hoffmann had 3 hits and drove in a run, Faith Weaver also added 2 hits and an RBI along with Kyra Beckemeyer. Avery Eversgerd and Ava Meyer also had RBI. Meyer was the complete game winner allowing five hits and striking out 2. Carlyle is set to host Woodlawn today.
