A 42-year-old Fort Wayne Indiana man has been ordered held in the Marion County Jail until a fitness hearing is completed after being formally being charged Wednesday with felony criminal trespass to a residence with a person present.
Andrew Walker is accused of entering a home in the 3800 block of Purcell Road after parking his motorcycle on I-57. After entering the home, Walker say a person sleeping on a couch with a dog nearby. He allegedly began petting the dog which growled at him and drew attention from another person and dog in a different part of the home.
The residents ordered Walker to remain in the home until the sheriff’s department arrived. He left willingly, thanking the residents for allowing them to pet their dog.
Judge Mark Stedelin found a concern about Walker’s fitness to stand trial. The evaluation is expected to be completed for a court hearing on April 22nd. Walker was ordered held in jail until the next court hearing.
A public defender was appointed to represent Walker.
