A member of the Marion County Board from District Three has resigned.
Tyson McHenry stayed through the first part of the meeting before handing in his resignation.
Marion County Board Chair Steve Whritenour says this wasn’t a surprise for him.
“We’re all disappointed to hear that,” Whritenour said. “He was a very valuable member of our board. He got a new job with a different shift, and it was just a conflict for him. Obviously, he’s got to take care of himself and his family first. We’ll miss him and we’ll go through the process to replace him out of District 3.”
Whritenour believes he has 60 days to bring the name of a replacement before the full county board for concurrence. He promises the vote on the new member will be done in public without a secret vote that got the board into trouble when they reorganized after the November election.
McHenry was also Vice-Chairman and Law Enforcement Committee Chair so those positions will have to be filled as well.
