The Salem Lady Wildcats improved to 2-0 with an impressive 14-0 win at Teutopolis. John A Logan signee Bre Thurman threw a no hitter striking out 13. Mya Russell and Alivia Rasul had 2 hits each. Thurman, Emma Lipe and Katee Sellers added a hit. It was the freshman Sellers first varsity hit. Russell, Thurman, Rasul and Sellers added 2 RBI as Rasul reached safely in every at bat.
South Central fell to Mulberry Grove in Kinmundy 1-0. The Lady Cougars only had 1 hit, Perci Reid had the only hit. Lauren Johnson started in the circle and worked 5 innings allowing 56 hits and 1 earned run. Maddie Peddicord worked the final 2 innings and struck out 5.
Mater Dei opened their season with an 8-6 comeback win over Okawville. The Lady Knights were down 6-5 going into the top of the t7h. After Taylor Robert and Emma Diekemper reached base and with 2 outs, Lynn Shriley hit a 3-run homer to put Mater Dei on top. Kenley Hackstadt had 2 doubles and a home run with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored for Okawville. The Knights will play at O’Fallon this afternoon.
