A 37-year-old Salem woman was arrested for aggravated battery to a police officer after allegedly getting into an altercation after they gave her a ride home.
Salem Police say they were initially called to the Spirit Shoppe on South Broadway to a report of a disturbance. On arrival, Crystal Smith of South Washington Street said there was nothing wrong. Police later gave her a ride home where she began fighting.
Police feared Smith had a high level of intoxication and called for emergency medical technicians to check on her condition. She was later transported to Salem Township Hospital to be checked. Smith was later taken to the Marion County Jail to await a final decision on charges and a first appearance in court.
The initial call came in at 7:30 Sunday night.
