The Breese Central men’s and women’s basketball teams had amazing season’s this year. The men won the toughest regional in the state and the women’s team fell to the eventual state champ Nashville in their post season, but was the #1 team in the state for a lot of the season. They both claimed conference titles and put 9 of their 10 starters on the All Conference list.
The men’s Player of the Year went to conference champion Breese Central’s Kaden Rakers. He was joined on the list by teammates Preston Bakers, Easton Becker and Griffen Becker along with Columbia’s Sam Donald, Brody Landgraf and Eddie Smajic. Freeburg’s Matt Pluff and Jase Brentlinger also made the team.
The Cahokia Mississippi girl’s team included Salem’s Jordan Kessler. Breese Central’s CeCe Toennies was named Player of the year and the team includes all 5 of the starters from Central….Taylor Trame, Lily Butler, Kylie Rakers and Claire Albers. Also on the team were Sam Schmuke and Jordan Holten of Columbia, Natalie Whitworth of Freeburg and Daisy Daugherty of Roxana.
