The Salem Planning Commission is recommending Crea Rose be granted a special use permit to open a medical office in the former title company building at 207 East Main Street. Rose, a licensed practical nurse, told the commission she wants to open a solo practice after AST closed its Salem office.
“We’re wanting to continue offering primary care services for patients of all ages, newborn to geriatric,” Rose said. “It will be a family practice type of clinic, we’ll do wellness visits, sick visits, physicals and things of that nature. I specialize in hormone replacement therapy, so I estimate that maybe 25 percent of my practice would be related to that. My goal is to be different to conventional medicine as far as time spent with patients. I would like to see one to two patients per hour.”
Rose plans three fulltime employees and one part-time biller who will work from home. She is in the process of purchasing the building if the special use is approved.
The commission will also recommend property at 1701 and 1703 East Main Street be rezone from B-3 business to RS-2 residential. Wheat Collier told the commission the property was the former Merle McKinney Auto Sales. The house where the owner lived is already a rental home and she is converting the sales office into another small home or bread and breakfast.
Both issues will come before the Salem City Council at its Monday, April 7th meeting.
