The Salem Lady Wildcats opened up their season with a 4-1 home win over Triad. John A Logan signee Bre Thurman was great in the circle striking out 10 and only allowing 2 hits. At the plate, Mya Russell hit the first Salem home run of the season. She went 2-3 on the day along with Jaelyn Keller. Izzy Decker and Emma Lipe added hits with Lipe’s being her first varsity hit. She scored a run along with Kale Benjamin. Salem is back at home Thursday against Benton.
Christ Our Rock opened their season with an 11-1 win over Wayne City. Kylie Nalewajka and Emma Williamson each went 3-5, Alaina French added 2 hits. Peyton Jett was 3-4 and Katie Oelze had 2 hits. EIU signee Emma Williamson struck out 11 in five innings. Jett threw 2 scoreless innings while striking out 3 to finish the game. Christ Our Rock will travel to Odin/Patoka/Sandoval for a game at Spears Field.
The Centralia Annies shutout Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 10-0. The Annies are right back in action today when they travel to Okawville, while Odin is at home against Christ Our Rock.
