The Salem City Council has approved a spring cleanup on a trial basis.
The council agreed Monday night to accept a proposal from its trash collector Sunrise Sanitation to provide the cleanup in April for just over $1,000.
City Manager Annette Sola says the cost will be borne by the city and not passed along to customers.
After the fall cleanup, a review will be made to determine if two cleanups are needed or if either the spring or fall cleanup can be dropped.
Sola reported several residents asked for the spring cleanup after it was discussed at the last meeting.
