Bobcats Win Bowling Regional & Individual Title

The Franklin Park Bobcats won their SIJHSAA Bowling Regional over the weekend at St Clair Bowl and will advance to Carterville for this weekend’s state tournament.  Franklin Park advances along with Mascoutah, Wesclin, Albers, Bartelso and Aviston.  Selmaville was 7th and just missed the cut of the top 6 finishing 212 pins out.  Central City was 14.

Salem’s Kai Graham was the individual champion shooting 726, 8 pins ahead of Zach Ritter of Aviston.  Kylan Cassidy of Franklin Park was 6th (608), Abram Jett 9th (581), Bentley Bryan 10th (566).

Also advancing individually was Brenton Ervin of Central City who was 15th shooting 529.  Citian teammates Bryler Etheridge was 48th (350), Jonah Elliston 50th (329), Liam Starr 67th (180) and Gabriel Corbin shot one game of 84 to finish 80th.

Selmaville missed out on the cut, they were led by Avery East who was 22nd (469), Hayden Thompson was 28th (445), Matthew Carter 30th (439), Bryan Lee T37th (387).

Mascoutah won the girls event and advances along with Aviston, Wesclin, Highland, Breese and Albers.  Salem missed the cut by 61 pins and were 8th overall.  Central City finished 12th.

Aviston’s Reese Renth was the individual champion shooting 667, 76 pins ahead of runner up Sophia Walter of Mascoutah.  Also advancing as individuals were Salem’s Ivy  Villalobos (15th, 422) and Lillian Morris (20th, 407).   Teammates Kennedi Simmons was 41st (243), Lillian Kincaide (45, 219), Hadley Allison (56, 103) and Adri Birch (58, 96).

Aleighanna Marke led Central City with a 37th place finish and 259 total.  Peyton Cook was 47th, Lizzie Warren 49 and Olivia Burton 50.  Saphyre Cottone and Kaitlin Hatcher were 61 and 62 respectively.

Selmaville’s Lorelei Wempe was 34th shooting 293 and Piper Gray shot 269 to finish 36.


SI Bowl was also a regional site for junior high bowling.

Casey won the boys event shooting 2029, 190 pins ahead of Woodlawn.  Also advancing in the top six were Cartervile, Harrisburg, Herrin and Summersville.  Field finished 8th, Kell 10th and Raccoon 14.

Casey’s Joseph Rutherford won the event, 11 pins ahead of Woodlawn’s Eli Robb.  Kell’s Hunter Phillips advanced finishing 8th and Rome’s Grady Tynes advances with a 10th place finish.

Woodlawn also got a 12th place finish from Jacob Baum,

Raccoon’s Jack Schaeffer was 18th, Wyatt Squibb was 39th, Connor McDonagh was 47th.

 

Spring Garden won the girls event with Casey 2nd and moving on as well were Bluford, Carterville, Herrin and Summersville.  Harrisburg was 7th, Woodlawn 10th and Raccoon 13.

Woodlawn’s Alayna Carpenter was the final individual qualifier.

Raccoon’s Madison Boyles was 42nd, Harlow Bain 44, Haley Payne 45.
