Kell Firemen say a single wide mobile home in rural Dix was damaged in a Friday night fire.
The fire was at the Lucy Baugh home at 22,768 North Poppy Lane. The family came home to discover a fire in the kitchen.
Kell firemen report upon arrival flames were visible through the windows of the center portion of the home. A short time later, the fire broke through the windows and front door. Firemen were able to get an aggressive attack on the fire be entering the home and quickly bringing it under control.
The cause of the fire will go down as undetermined, but appears to have started near the stove.
Several items were salvaged from the home.
Kell Firemen received mutual aid on the scene from Mt. Vernon, Jefferson Fire, and Centralia District Firemen while Salem and Iuka firemen stood by at the station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 8:13 Friday night, with firemen on the scene for about one and a half hours.
The Red Cross was called to assist the family.
