Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say a 61-year-old Mt. Vernon motorcyclist lost control and crashed into a guardrail on I-57 just south of the Salem exit late Friday morning.

Todd Hoffman of Rose Lane told deputies his passenger, 56-year-old Christine Meister of North 16th, was experiencing a medical issue and he was trying to keep her from falling off the cycle when he ran off the road and hit a guardrail.   The crash occurred in the northbound lanes.

Hoffman was not hurt.  Meister was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of the medical condition.

The crash occurred at 10:51 Friday morning.
