Salem Fire Protection District officials say two storage buildings sustained minor damage in a grass fire Sunday afternoon.
The small 20 by 20 foot fire on the Pat Williams property on Country Club Estates spread to the corners of neighboring properties where the storage sheds were located. The sheds were owned by Melissa Wesling and Earl and Wanda White, also of Country Club Estates.
Damage was reported to the siding on the sheds, with the fire not getting inside.
The cause of the grass fire has not been determined.
Kinmundy-Alma handled both a trash and grass fire on Sunday.
Fire Chief Kevin Day says a trash fire in the 4800 block of Hester Lane in Alma got away and spread to items in the rear of a derelict pickup truck. The fire was stopped before it involved the truck itself. The fire alarm came in at 3:34 pm.
Firemen were also called to a controlled burn that got out of control at the corner of Jezek and Alma Hatchery Roads in rural Alma. Three to four acres of land not intended to be burned were involved. There was no damage to any buildings. That call came in at 11:50 Monday morning.
