The Triad Knights held Centralia to 5 points in the 2nd half and erased a 10-point deficit to win the 3a Marion Sectionals 28-26. They advance to Springfield on Monday to take on Chatham Glenwood in the Elite 8 after their win over Mt Zion 39-32 at Eisenhower.
In 1a, St Anthony came from behind to beat Tuscola at Red Hill 56-40. They advance to Eastern Illinois University to take on Meridian who knocked off Goreville in a classic at Cobden 69-63.
In 2a, Althoff was too much late for Breese Central as they pulled away to win the Carterville Sectional 56-44. They will play Teutopolis who overcame a poor free throw shooting night to beat Warrensburg Latham in overtime at Tolono Unity 37-35. It’s the 10th trip to the Super Sectionals in the past 14 years for the Shoes. The two will play Monday night at SIU-Carbondale.
In 4a, Quincy came back to beat Normal 61-54 to win the Collinsville Sectional. They will play at Illinois State University in the Elite 8 against Lisle Benet Academy who won at home beating Downers Grove North 44-32.
