Arthur “Art” Shannon of Houston, TX, and formerly from the Odin and Centralia area, passed away after a brief battle of cancer on February 24, 2026 leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Born on June 28, 1964, in Jackson, Tennessee, Art lived a life full of kindness and dedication. He is the son of Leroy Shannon and Addie (Perry) Lillard.

Art spent his professional life in the banking industry, where he was known for his integrity and commitment. His colleagues and clients remember him as an individual who always had a warm smile and a helping hand.

He is survived by his loving brother, Sidney Shannon of Belleville; sister, Bertha Coleman (Leonard) of Missouri City, TX; Uncle Leon Shannon (Shirley) of Illinois. Arthur was a dear uncle to Courtney (Brittney) Frierson of Kansas, Christopher Frierson of Katy, TX, Leonard Coleman III of Houston, TX, Sydney Shannon of Belleville, and Brayden Shannon of Marshall, IL. He was also blessed with a host of cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, Leroy Shannon and Addie Lillard, step father: Phillip Lillard, along with several aunts and uncles who undoubtedly welcomed him home.

He will be laid to rest at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, IL . Per his wishes, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, the Star of Hope, or the Houston Food Bank – causes that were dear to Arthur’s heart.
