Salem city officials say regardless of what decision is made on having a spring city-wide cleanup, the fall cleanup will go on as in the past.
The city council on Monday night received a proposal from Sunrise Sanitation to add a spring clean-up to the contract. If approved, it would be the second cleanup of the year. The fall cleanup is already included in the city’s contract with Sunrise Sanitation.
The city is also encouraging residents to call Sunrise Sanitation for pickup of large items at any time. There is a cost to use that service, but it allows residents to get rid of no longer wanted items more quickly.
