Triad’s Defense Holds Rams In Check…Centralia Battles East St Louis Tonight
In the 3a Marion Sectional, the Mt Vernon Rams season came to an end as they fell to a stingy Triad Knights defense 43-27. The game was tied at 13 apiece at halftime. Lucas Shelby had 7 to lead Mt Vernon. Dave Barnes had 6 before receiving 2 second half technical fouls and was ejected.
Tonight, the Centralia Orphans will battle East St Louis with the winner getting Triad on Friday.
The other Sectional that feeds to the Springfield Super Sectional is at Eisnehower. Chatham Glenwood beat Champaign Central in their semifinal 56-45. Tonight it’s Mt Zion and Lincoln.
Breese Central KO’s Benton…Next Stop Sweet 16
In 2a at Carterville, Breese Central improved to 28-5 on the year, eliminating Benton 41-30. Kaden Rakers led the Cougars with 17. Docker Tedeschi finishes his stellar high school career with 19. He will play next year at Colorado State. The Rangers season ends at 28-5. Tonight at Carterville it’s Althoff and Vienna.
TTown Gets Late Points and Dominates OT To Advance
The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes have won 15 straight regional titles, they opened up the Tolono Unity Sectional with a thrilling 53-46 overtime win over Monticello. Gavin Addis hit a late 3 to cut the Sages lead to 3. Then trailing 42-40 with under 5 seconds left, TTown got 4 shots and tips in the final 2 seconds before the final attempt from Addis went in to send the game to OT. TTown outscored them 11-4 in the extra time. Tonight Lawrenceville takes on Warrensburg Latham.
Also in 2a at Greenville, Auburn beat Pleasant Plains 50-39 and tonight it’s Staunton and Williamsville.
Dieterich’s Season Ends In 1a Sectional….Goreville Advances
In 1a at Red Hill, Dieterich’s season came to an end after losing to Tuscola 74-65. At Cobden, Goreville advanced with a 55-41 win over Okawville. Tonight at Red Hill, St Anthony takes on Webber Township and at Cobden it’s Waltonville against Mounds Meridian.
Quincy Eliminates Alton, Heads To 4a Sectional Final
Last night in the 4a Collinsville Sectional, Quincy knocked off Alton 56-33. The other semifinal saw Normal Community beat Rock Island 54-44 in a game played at Pekin High.
