A rural Centralia home was destroyed by fire late Saturday night.
Owner Michael Allison of 1384 Medlin Road was able to get out of the home, but feared his daughter might still be inside. He sustained burns to his fingers and shoulder and was treated and released at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department made calls and eventually located his daughter at another location.
Salem Assistant Fire Chief Bill Fulton says two thirds of the single story home was fully involved in flames upon their arrival. He reports multiple roofs made it difficult to reach the fire. Fulton says nothing was saved from the home.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. The State Fire Marshal’s office will investigate due to the injury.
The fire was first reported by a passerby at 11:43 p.m. Saturday night. Firemen remained on the scene until around 3:30 Sunday morning. Kell, Odin, and the Centralia Fire Protection District provided mutual aid on the scene, while Kinmundy-Alma Firemen covered the Salem Fire Station in the event of another fire.
