The Centralia Orphans won their 4th straight regional title beating Herrin at Effingham 61-43. Freshman Archie Goewey led the Orphans with 23. Centralia advances to next week’s Marion Sectional when they will open up on Wednesday against the Flyers of East St Louis who won the Highland Regional over the hosts 52-41. The Orphans improve to 28-4 on the season.
The Mt Vernon Rams also advanced to the Marion Sectional beating Marion at Carbondale 65-49. It’s the 3rd straight regional title for the Rams who will play Tuesday night against Triad. Dave Barnes led Mt Vernon with 14. Also in 3a, Mt Zion at home beat Mahomet Seymour 66-45, Lincoln beat Taylorville 38-23 at Springfield, Triad over Waterloo in Waterloo 46-39.
