State Representative Charlie Meier.

State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) has provided a medical update following the completion of his radiation treatment for prostate cancer:

Meier says he is feeling great after completing the final treatment of his first round of radiation for prostate cancer.  He notes after announcing his prostate cancer diagnosis earlier this year, he was totally overwhelmed with the outpouring of support, prayers, well wishes, and love from people across the country. Meier says every text, call, and message were a bit of encouragement he needed to get over this bump in the road.

Meier says as promised he was able to continue all his duties as State Representative.

He says it was exhausting at times, but his resolve did not slow down.

Meier is also thanking doctors at St. Elizabeth’s in O’Fallon for their care.

He says his treatment would have been much different had he not caught the cancer early thanks to a routine PSA test. If you are a male over the age of 50 – Meier is asking that you please consider routinely checking your PSA levels. Early detection is vital for all cancers, so stay on top of your doctor visits because it could save your life.

While experiencing minor side effects, nothing has kept him down for too long. He looking forward to regaining his energy and getting back to doing the things that he loves: running the family farm and representing the 109th district.
