Wamac Police have now made a second arrest in connection with a December 19th incident where two underage males attempted to run over a couple who failed to purchase them beer.

20-year-old James Mancinelli of Salem Mobile Home Park was taken into custody during a traffic stop by Central City Police on Thursday.  After questioning, he was taken to the Marion County Jail and was formally charged in Marion County Court on Friday with aggravated battery.  Mancinelli had an ankle monitor at the time of incident which he was wearing as part of release on a separate domestic violence case.

19-year-old Jacob Miller of South Puryn Street in Salem was earlier located by Salem Police and formally charged with aggravated battery in a public place.

Wamac Police says the problems unfolded when Mancinelli and Miller gave a couple entering the Casey’s Store in Wamac $30 to purchase liquor.  The two exited without any liquor and then only returned $25 to the two underage men.

The woman was then reportedly struck by one of the men before Mancinelli allegedly got into his vehicle and attempted to run the two over.  The male victim was struck, but declined hospital treatment.   The female victim also declined treatment for injuries sustained when being hit.

Mancinelli was charged with striking the female victim in the head while at a public place.

During Friday’s court hearing, Judge Mark Stedelin partially revoked his pre-trial release on the domestic violence charge and sanctioned him to time served.  Mancinelli was then placed back on GPS monitoring, ordered not to possess a firearm or other dangerous weapons and have no contact with three people involved in the cases.
