Marion A. “Mo” Oefelein passed away peacefully at his home in Beckemeyer, IL, on February 23, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on January 20, 1944, in Breese, IL, he was the son of the late Marion F. and Julie (nee Skrobul) Oefelein and the cherished brother of Randall W. Oefelein and his wife Billye Mae of Anchorage, AK.
Mr. Oefelein proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1965 until his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1969. Following his military service, he dedicated four years to ANR Freight in St. Louis and followed with fifteen years of commitment to Centralia Cartage, also in St. Louis.
Mo’s passion for life was evident in his many hobbies and community involvements. He was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer. He loved watching and attending sporting events and enjoyed his role working the scoreboard at local baseball games. An avid fisherman, Mo treasured his time by the water. His enthusiasm for aviation led him to earn a pilot license, and he also found joy in flying radio-controlled airplanes.
A Graveside service with military honors will be held at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Beckemeyer, IL on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. with Fr. Chuck Tuttle, officiating. Following the graveside service, a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer at 11:00 A.M.
