Salem Heads To Carbondale Tonight For IHSA Regional Opener On WJBD at 6pm

In Class 3a, the Salem Wildcats will open up against the host Terriers Monday night at 6pm on WJBD.  The winner advances to Wednesday’s semifinal against Mt Vernon.  Marion and Olney will be the other semifinal matchup.  The regional championship will be on Friday night in Carbondale.

The Centralia Orphans are the top seed and will open up at Effingham on Wednesday against the play-in game winner Monday between Effingham and Charleston.  Herrin and Mattoon will play the other semifinal.

In 2a the absolutely brutal Carlyle Regional will open up with Mater Dei taking on Nashville in one quarterfinal.  Wesclin and Carlyle will play on Monday in another quarterfinal game.  The winner of Mater Dei/Nashville will then play Breese Central while Columbia awaits the Wesclin/Carlyle winner.  Every team in this regional has over 20 wins on the year.

The Chester Regional is also brutal as the top 2 NestoHoops ranked teams will be in the same regional.  Althoff will play the winner of DuQuoin and Chester while the Panthers await either Red Bud or Sparta.

In the Fairfield regional, Flora will play Vandalia Monday with the winner getting TTown in the semifinal.

In Class 1a on Monday, Christ Our Rock will open up play in the Webber Regional with a home game against Wayne City.  The winner will advance to play the winner of Cisne and Edwards County.

At the South Central Regional, Sandoval opens at top seed Dieterich on Monday with the winner playing the winner of St Elmo at South Central.  The other two quarterfinal games will see Patoka/Odin at Altamont and Mulberry Grove at North Clay.

Woodlawn will open up the Christopher Regional at home Monday against Zeigler.

Over the weekend on the prep boys scoreboard from Saturday, Benton beat Pope County 79-41, Columbia 72-52 over Rochester, Christ Our Rock fell to Highland 65-59 and Nashville over Metro East Lutheran 56-43.
