The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to pass resolutions to allow planning Airport Road sidewalks and Orchard Street improvements to move forward.
The council will consider a resolution with Milano and Grunloh Engineers, LLC to perform preliminary engineering, design engineering and construction engineering services for sidewalk improvements to portions of Airport Road and Country Club Road from Jordan Elementary School to Edgebrook Lane. The total estimated cost for construction and engineering is expected to be $599,303 with $250,000 of the cost to be paid through a federal Safe Routes to School grant. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026.
Another resolution will be presented to have Gonzalez Companies, LLC to perform design engineering and construction engineering services for roadway improvements to portions of Orchard Drive East. Motor fuel tax funds in the amount of $65,000 will pay for the services. The project will include reconstruction of concrete pavement, curb and gutter, and storm sewer for approximately 350 linear feet as well as concrete pavement patching on the remainder of the roadway.
Milano and Grunloh Engineers LLC will be asked to perform grant administration of federal grants awarded for construction of the new water plant and raw water line.
Another resolution with Grunloh would allow them to perform professional services for lead service line inventory.
The council will be asked to enter into a new water sales agreement with the Village of Junction City. It will immediately increase the cost of water to Junction City from $3.92 per thousand gallons to $4.10 with a yearly increase tied to the rate of inflation over the next 41 years.
The council will also consider bids to purchase a skid steer for $56,000 and materials for the summer road maintenance program.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
