More renovation work is planned this summer at Franklin Park Middle School in Salem.
Salem Grade School Superintendent Dr. Leslie Foppe says 30,000 square feet of carpeting in the 6th, 7th, 8th grade, and Pre-K will be removed and replaced. She says the flooring was replaced in the rest of the building last summer.
“We needed to spend our ESSER dollars first, so we did that last summer,” Foppe said. “This summer, with the health life safety funds, we will take out the remaining carpet and have tile done throughout the rest of the building. That project will be done after this summer, so it’s very exciting.”
Foppe hopes the work is completed in time to give teachers a few weeks to move back into their classrooms following the work.
The board tentatively set Franklin Park 8th Grade Graduation for May 20th. However, Foppe says it could still change if there are additional snow days.
The board was told the Franklin Park seventh grade blood drive this week collected 54 units of blood. The Franklin Park Food Drive will be held from March 3rd through the 14th to replenish the Salem Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry before Easter.
In personnel news, the board accepted the resignation of Elyse Caplinger as cheerleading coach and Amy Robbins and Elizabeth Smith as Student Council Sponsors.
