Salem Firemen responded to two fires on Wednesday evening.
The first was an oven fire at the Seth Morgan home in the 1600 block of Adams Road south of Cartter. While flames were showing at the time of the call, none were visible when the first firemen arrived on the scene. Firemen believe there was a small grease fire. It did not cause any damage. Firemen received the call at six pm.
The second fire was in the parking lot of North American Lighting. A car owned by Alex Hirsch of North Maple in Salem was parked just five feet from the building when the fire began. Firemen kept the fire away from the building, but the engine compartment of the car burned up and the car was a total loss. The cause of the fire has not been determined. The fire call came in at 7:35 pm.
