Republican area legislators who represent the region are all critical of the Governor’s budget proposal.
State Representative Blaine Wilhour called J.B. Pritzker the “worst Governor in the nation for working families”. He claims Pritzker has a record of paying lip service to working families while hitting them with extremely regressive taxes and trapping kids in dangerous and failing schools. Wilhour also claims the Governor has wasted billions of dollars in federal money while the state now faces over a $3-billion hold in the budget he predicts will lead to even higher taxes.
State Representative Charlie Meier says the Governor’s budget message shows just how out of touch he is with everyday Illinoisans. He says this budget once again sends more tax dollars to the Sanctuary City of Chicago to further perpetuate the immigration catastrophe that Democrats have put upon our country and state.
State Senator Jason Plummer questions how anyone can trust what the Governor is saying right now. Just a couple of months ago, his budget office was projecting a $3.2 billion deficit. Now, just in time for his budget address, he claims they found another $2 billion. Plummer questions ‘seriously’? Let’s remember this is the same man who has claimed all of his budgets have been balanced when they weren’t.
State Senator Terry Bryant says while the federal government is finally taking steps to rein in spending, Governor Pritzker is doubling down on growing Illinois’s bloated budget. Bryant says instead of making tough decisions to put our state on solid financial footing, he continues to expand government and pile more spending onto the backs of hardworking Illinoisans.
