Kaskaskia College President George Evans has now been confirmed by the Illinois Senate to serve on the Illinois Community College Board.

Evans has already been active on the board after being appointed about six months by Governor JB Pritzker.  He will serve alongside 10 other education leaders throughout the state until the term ends in June 2027.  Evans will be the only college president on the board.

“It’s made up of some wonderful people, but very few of them have come from the community college industry,” Evans said. “Having my input definitely helps to balance out some of the direction of the board as far as vision vs. reality. It’s also been eye-opening for me to help explain to my peers who serve on that board the differences between community colleges, universities, and K through 12, specifically on the funding side, on the credit side, the community education side and curriculum side.”

The Chairman of the college board Bill Hawley says President Evans will be a great addition to the Illinois Community College Board.  He says Evans has a pride and passion for the community college system that is unequaled.  Hawley feels they could not have found a better advocate for Illinois Community Colleges.
