The National Weather Service says one to five inches of snow is possible across South Central Illinois, South Western Illinois, and Southeast Missouri by the time the snow ends on Wednesday.   The most likely amount of snow in most of Marion County is two to three inches.

The initial round of snow is expected to taper off after ten Tuesday morning.  Heavier snow is expected to resume after three Tuesday afternoon and continue until three Wednesday morning.   Some lingering snow is in the forecast for Wednesday.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

As of seven am, all roads are at least partially snow-covered and slick.

Salem has its snow route ordinance in effect until further notice.  Centralia’s snow route emergency begins at eight Tuesday morning and continues until eight Thursday morning.  Central City’s snow route ordinance is in effect until six Friday evening.  You are not allowed to park on designated snow routes when the snow route ordinances are in effect to allow crews to better clear streets.
