The Salem Wildcats won their road game at East Alton Wood River, beating the Oilers 66-40. Salem shot just 2-of-19 from the three point line, but defensively they forced Wood River into 22 turnovers and scored easy buckets in transition. Sophomore Kaeden Bevolo led Salem with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ryegan Warren added 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds, Ayden Rose added 11 along with Noah Nix. Miking Ettress added 8 for Salem who improved to 7-21 on the year. They will finish up the conference and regular season Tuesday night at Roxana.
The Salem JV opened the night with a 67-18 running clock win. Kyler King led Salem with 13, Eli Baker added 11 and Payton Gullion finished with 10. Riley Tate added 9 points.
Marion knocked off Centralia 70-60. The loss means Centralia and Mt Vernon will share the South 7 Conference title after Mt Vernon beat Cahokia 61-43.
Carlyle’s Hayden Huels went over 1000 career points last night in the Indians 65-54 win over Red Bud.
Brody Markley scored 21 and Westin Neilson added 20, but it wasn’t enough as South Central lost to Mulberry Grove 67-55.
