A 21-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies on a Jefferson County warrant charging possession of child pornography.
The arrest and warrant of Dakota Martin were the result of a sheriff’s office investigation that began after a cyber tip was received through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on November 21st of last year.
The tip led to further investigation, which resulted in multiple search warrants for social media and internet records. A search warrant was also obtained for Martin’s residence in Mt. Vernon and served on January 29th. Electronic devices were collected for further examination.
The results of the investigation, upon completion, were turned over to the States Attorney’s Office for review of criminal charges.
