No one was injured when an ambulance caught fire in the construction zone on I-64 near Woodlawn on Tuesday night.
While the construction slowed emergency help, the patient and crew were all out of the burning vehicle when the first help arrived from Woodlawn Fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. The patient was being taken from Kentucky to St. Louis. All were taken to a Mt. Vernon hospital by Litton’s Ambulance to prepare for the completion of the trip.
The westbound lane of I-64 was blocked for about two hours beginning at nine pm.
